President Barack Obama officially launched his re-election campaign Monday, influence grass-roots supporters middle to his first White House run to mobilize again to defend the change he's brought over the past two years.
The official start of his second White House bid comes 20 months sooner than the November 2012 ballot votes.
"We've at all times known that lasting change wouldn't come rapidly or easily. It by no means does," the Democrat said in an e-mail to supporters proclaimed his candidacy. "But as my administration and folks cross ways the country fight to protect the development we've made — and make more — we also need to begin mobilizing for 2012, long prior to the time comes for me to begin campaigning in sober."
